Two Piece Dress
History & Notes: Made by Shogren sisters of Portland, Oregon, Catherine Minear Moore wore this stunning black and white gown around 1900.
Description: Two piece gown comprising long sleeved bodice and matching skirt. White silk with small, closely arranged black polka-dots. Skirt is lined in black silk, bodice in white. Skirt features a narrow waist band with back snap, and hook and eye closure in lining and skirt material. Small padded semicircle to improve fullness in back. Gored construction with inset pleats on each seam. Cotton loops at waistband for hanging. Long sleeves of jacket have four groups of tucks. Cuff is a band of black beaded and embroidered netting over ecru silk. Bands of beaded netting over shoulders and yoke of bodice. High neckline in ecru lace held up by plastic stiffeners sewn in. Neckline is finished in a black and white cord. Front layered closure.
