History & Notes: worn by Mrs. Ethel Salome Peck Clark to the inaugural ball held for her husband, Barzilla Clark, in 1937.
Description: Ensemble. Bias cut gown is of black silk charmeuse with fuscia satin along the straps and encircling bust in a flattened bow. Long sleeved black lace jacket with puffed sleeves snaps onto the sides of the gown. Jacket features a satin band across the back with a row of satin covered buttons at each side hiding the snaps. Hem, collar and center front opening are finished with black satin bias tape. Cuffs close with a row of covered buttons. Black satin covered pumps are finished with leather soles and are lined in light aqua leather. The foot bed of each shoe is embossed with silver lettering, the left reads "MODERN SHOE CO. INC. IDAHO FALLS" and the right reads "MISS IDAHO FALLS." Small clutch handbag is fully beaded with white, gray, and silver beads in a floral pattern. Silver toned zipper along top opening with a small silver toned chain loop finished with a larger silver ball is looped onto zipper. Synthetic white fabric lining carries a small pocket inside. Internal tag reads "Made in Czechoslovakia." A vertical loop of beaded material at back allows for secure carrying.
