History & Notes: This unique beret probably belonged to Henrietta Catharine Butler Peasley, wife of pioneer businessman and founder of Peasley Transfer and Storage Co., Edwin Peasley, Henrietta was born in 1874 to a ranching family in Star, Idaho and died in 1946. Her substantial collection of hats was donated by her daughter, Mrs. Sophie Peasley Riede.
Description: Modified double beret hat made of black felt. Over sized latticed snood at the back of the hat meant to cover the hair. Narrow elastic strap to secure the hat on the wearer's head is secured in front of the lattice.
