History & Notes: These petite men's boots were worn by Idaho muleteer, Jesus Urquides. Born in Mexico in 1833, Jesus came to Boise in the 1860s following the discovery of gold in the Boise Basin. He became a noted mule packer, hauling supplies into mining camps in Silver City, Atlanta, Challis, and throughout Idaho. Jesus went on to found what became known as "Spanish Village," in Boise, near Main and 1st streets.
Description: Square toed, black and brown leather boots. Calf high boot shaft is black at the ankle and brown at the upper portion. Inside the top of each boot shaft are two sewn-in, striped green and off white fabric straps to allow the wearer to pull the boot on. Chunky heel and well defined arch on the sole of the shoe.
