History & Notes: In 1967, Mrs. Thomas Moran donated this bustle dress and various other objects to the Idaho State Historical Society.
Description: Purple two piece bustle dress in a fleur de lis jacquard with velvet trim. Fitted bodice and sleeves closes with nine purple painted metal buttons molded into flowers. Body of the fabric is a purple woven fabric with a blue fleur de lis in a jacquard weave. Curving bands of blue striped cut velveteen border are set as lapels along either side of the closure. Blue velveteen trim on cuffs and on mandarin collar. Skirt features an over skirt that facilitates a gathered apron sweep across the front and a full bustle at the back. Back panel is trimmed in the same blue striped cut velvet as is present on bodice and features ties on the underside of the panel to create additional fullness. Underskirt is gored and features a blue velveteen panel on each side of the skirt, framing the jacquard on the front and back.
