History & Notes: This lovely day dress was worn by Mabel Rosamund Brose in the summer of 1922. The daughter of some of Idaho's earlier pioneers, Mable was born in 1887 and was raised on a farm north of Franklin Road between Curtis and Allumbaugh. She enrolled in the the teacher's institute in 1910 and became a schoolteacher and author of children's books. Her publication, The Motzie Stories was a book of true tales of children who lived in the Treasure Valley in the 1890s. Mabel married her second husband, George H. Curtis, an Idaho legislator and fellow educator in 1951. Mabel passed away in 1972.
Description: Cotton voile gingham of blue, white, and black plaid; scalloped side peplums bound in white organdy hemstitched in black; white organdy collar with lace inset on the front yoke; white organdy sash, worn just above the peplum giving the low waist effect.
