History & Notes: This sequined topper probably belonged to Catharine Butler Peasley, wife of pioneer businessman and founder of Peasley Transfer and Storage Co., Edwin Peasley. Henrietta was born in 1874 to a ranching family in Star, Idaho and died in 1946. Her substantial collection of hats was donated by her daughter, Mrs. Sophie Peasley Riede.
Description: Black velvet close-hat with bronze and black sequined strips extending from the rear of the hat across the right side with an upward flair.
