History & Notes: Edna R. Ross wore this mesh purse to her husband's 1931 inaugural ball. C. Benjamin Ross served as Idaho governor from 1931 to 1936, but during times of illness, Edna would often step in to help manage the job. She was a very strong personality and earned the nick-name "Governor Edna" by the end of her husband's tenure. Outside of political office, Edna was passionate about education and foster care.
Description: Small purse made of enameled metal mesh in a yellow, red, purple, and black pinwheel design. Purse clasp consists of two pieces of enameled oblong metal with an abstract Art Deco design in yellow, purple, white, and black. Fastens with crossed metal balls that slide together. Slender chain strap extends from the top of the clasp area.
