History & Notes: Bess Steunenberg was the first registrar at the College of Idaho and while working there, she met Professor Carl E. Solomon. Dr. Solomon was born in 1887. As a young child, his mother wove and sewed this coat for him. Dr. Solomon gave the coat to Bess and she subsequently donated it to the Idaho State Historical Society in the summer of 1967.
Description: Child's green and off-white striped coat with matching cape-collar. Coat is double breasted with blue-green cord belt sewn into waist band. Ten horn buttons at front closure with matching buttons at each cuff. Skirt of coat is long with a peplum flap over each hip.
