History & Notes: This velvet ensemble was worn by the donor's mother, Roberta Fluter (born 1905, died 1994) when she married Gordon Saxton (born 1905, died 1998) on December 7, 1929, in Nampa, Idaho. The Saxtons owned Saxton Fruit Farm in Canyon County on the south shore of Lake Lowell.
Description: 3-piece woman's wedding ensemble includes dress, sash/ribbon belt, and cloche. Dress is blue velvet, long-sleeved, knee-length with cream, accordion pleated chiffon collar and velvet tie accented with cream painted wooden baubles at each tie end, Skirt features teardrop-shaped satin insertions with satin and metallic floral embroidery. Blue velvet sash would have tied at back of dress. Cloche is blue velvet with embroidered flowers featuring metallic accents on front of brim.
