History & Notes: This tea gown came from the home of the Vollmer family in Lewiston, Idaho.
Description: Pale lavender tea dress. High band collar with squiggly wire stays. Shoulders, sleeves, collar, and upper bodice layered with off white crinkled chiffon and machine embroidered tulle. The long fitted sleeves are covered with 3/4 length over sleeve with a handkerchief frill treatment that is trimmed in lavender taffeta, a band of taffeta at the elbow, and small taffeta bow at wrist. Waistline and skirt are taffeta with hand stitched tucks for darts. The right side comes up to a point over the breast and both sides are decorated with pea sized buttons. Hook and eye closure is asymmetrical. Left skirt is longer with a piece of tulle on the right side peeking out from under taffeta. Tulle has a scalloped edge. The back has a longer piece of taffeta on the left side that makes a train. The tulle peeks out of the right side. The back bodice has a "V" of tulle which follows the same line of the triangular pieces of taffeta that is also decorated with pea sized buttons. Tulle is embroidered with a twig and mum design.
