History & Notes: Worn by the donor, Mrs. Myrtle Enking Beatty, during the inaugural reception after she was elected State Treasurer of Idaho. She served from 1933 to 1945, and was the first female treasurer of Idaho, only the second to have held such a position in the nation at large.
Description: Black, floor length, bias cut, silk velvet gown. High, slightly cowled neckline is secured by wide beaded straps which meat in a deep "V" at the mid back. Straps appear to disappear at waist as though covered by a wide belt of the velvet body of the dress and reappear as two overlapping sashes with the beaded pattern continuing. Front of the dress is close fitting to the body while the sides are slightly ruched at waist. Chiffon lining within.
