History & Notes: According to deed: "Owned and worn by Elvina Moulton, 1870s, an original charter member of Boise's First Presbyterian Church." Jacket may be more recent than 1870s - possibly early 1900s.
Description: Approximately 3/4-length long-sleeve black jacket, possibly silk. No collar. Princess line seaming front and back. Sleeves slightly wider at top with small pleats front and back, narrows at wrists. Cuffs accented with approximately 5/8" wide flat black braid. Same braid outlines bottom hem and jacket opening from bottom hem all the way around neck and also from buttons just below bustline, up to shoulder and around back of neck. Two fabric-covered toggle buttons (one on each side) at opening just below bustline. Two-ply twisted cord loop closure on viewer's left side. Black thread-wrapped braid sewn onto jacket in vertical swirled lines (passementerie). Black tassel fringe around bottom of jacket.
