History & Notes: This dress was part of the trousseau of Frances (Fanny) L. Taylor Winters. Fanny and her husband Captain Rupert Winters came out to Idaho as was part of the Boston and Idaho Gold Dredging Company. Rupert helped to pioneer the building and operation of the first gold dredges in the west at Idaho City in the early 1900s.
Description: Formal dress of champagne colored flecked damask material with lace and black velvet ribbon insertions. Dress is floor length with slight train. High necked, princess styled, with leg-o-mutton sleeves and back hook and eye closure. Over sized decorative black velvet buttons embellish the dress. Fully lined in champagne colored taffeta with boning in bodice.
